The Common Law Admission Test (CLAT) is a national-level entrance exam for admissions to undergraduate (UG) and postgraduate (PG) law programmes offered by 25 National Law Universities around the country.
CLAT is organised by the Consortium of National Law Universities consisting of the representative universities. The Consortium of National Law Universities (NLUs) has announced that the Common Law Admission Test (CLAT) 2027 will be conducted on 6 December 2026.
For thousands of aspiring law students, this marks the beginning of the countdown to one of India’s most competitive entrance examinations. If you’re aiming for admission to a top National Law University, now is the time to plan your preparation strategically and stay consistent.
CLAT 2027 Eligibility Criteria for (UG Programme)
Educational Qualification: Applicants must have completed their 10+2 or an equivalent examination. The minimum marks required for different categories are:
- 45% marks for General, OBC, and Specially Abled Person categories
- 40% marks for SC/ST categories
Note: Candidates who will be appearing for the Class 12 exam in March/April 2026 are also eligible to apply. However, they must provide proof of passing the exam at the time of admission. Failure to do so will result in rejection and loss of eligibility for admission.
Age Limit: CLAT does not impose any upper age limit for candidates. As long as you meet the eligibility requirements, you can appear for the exam.

| Section | Content |
| English Language | Passages of about 450 words from contemporary or historically significant fiction and non-fiction writing. |
| Current Affairs Including General Knowledge | Passages up to 450 words from news, journalistic sources, and other non-fiction writing. |
| Legal Reasoning | Passages of around 450 words based on legal matters, public policy, or moral philosophical questions. |
| Logical Reasoning | Short passages of about 450 words with questions related to reasoning. |
| Quantitative Techniques | Short sets of facts or numerical information followed by questions requiring application of mathematical operations. |
